Seems to be quicker now, although I haven't checked for any new features yet.

It supports downloading of files from sites now. Only glitch is a box pops up that says "The application Bolt has attempted to open local content. Would you like to allow this?" In order store a file on your media card, you see this warning FOUR different times, and have to continue clicking "Yes". Ridiculous. Other than that, they are making good progress. Still more useful for me than the most recent Opera Mini Beta.

Agreed... They need to incorporate that little 'Do Not Ask Again' checkbox. Besides that, looks good. Even faster and more responsive than before.

Its not the safari browser LOL.

Definitely better connection. Faster and seems to be comfortable with 5.0

I like how it doesn't need to reload when you go back on pages. That was one of my favorite things about Opera.

I've found 2 issues so far that was around when it was still beta
- Sometimes when a link is near the edge of the screen, I can't click on it, most notably with forums. IE. When there's 4 pages of posts, and the link to the 4th page is on the edge, the arrow doesn't go far enough to click on that link
- Sometimes the "back" feature (whether with the back button on the BB or "Back" in menu) will just stop working, so I'm stuck staring at the same page.

Anyone have fixes for these? I played around with magnifying and stuff, and can't seem to find a fix for it.

Hate the fact that the program precludes the mailto function on our devices. Makes Craigslist responses imposible, for example.

I've had a chance to compare a few sites using Opera and Bolt. Using the socket setting for both, I still find Opera to be a bit quicker in loading the pages. Anybody else notice difference in page loading times between the two?

I was NOT having good luck with Opera 5 Beta so this app is my secondary browser of choice.

Hmmm...rebooted my Storm and started up Bolt and noticed ALL of my favorites are gone. Have to start from scratch. Perhaps an off-site sync of bookmarks or favorites ( a la Opera) is in order or at least a way to recover tehm from a backup or something. Are bookmarks kept in the RMS database file located on the BlackBerry?

When I first performed the update, without rebooting, my favorites were still there. However, overnight, after Start Me Up rebooted, I started Bolt 1.5 and my favorites were gone.

I notice the same thing. Opera is still quicker for me, but Bolt does a much better job rendering the pages. Speed test: Bolt Mobile browser vs. Opera Mini | CTIA Fall show - CNET Reviews

I'm actually thrilled with Bolt 1.5. I've been using my flip for about a year now and I love the flip. I've always liked flipped phones, and also phones that look like phones as opposed to PDAs. Just my preference.

Bolt 1.5 vs BB Browser on 8220
BB Browser (EDGE): renders pages extremely slowly, defaults zoom is always wrong IMO.
Moving around too see parts of pages you have zoomed in on are painful. Sections not in view will be blank and have to be re-rendered everything you move around, especially if you try to move around quickly.

Bolt 1.5 (EDGE): renders pages very well IMO. Loads times seem to vary even for the same pages. Perhaps it's the time of the day, or something to do with the backbone server they use. I like the default zoom settings, I can read the text w/o having to zoom further. Images are visible, and moving around the zoomed page doesn't result in constant re-rendering.
I love that Bolt allows me to change from Portrait to Landscape view on any webpage. This is a feature that should be available naturally on the 8220 IMO.

I tried Opera Mini 4.2 in the past and have not liked it. How does Opera Mini 5 Beta compare to Bolt on the 8220? Perhaps I should give that a try as well. I mainly surf forums, a few news pages, and youtube.

I don't think its fair to compare Opera Mini 5 just yet. Still in beta and it seems like there's still plenty of issues they need to work out.
