Default Which model should I get/Lycos mail

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

I don't know much about Blackberrys other than I'd like one! I have visited many 'phone shops, but the staff have been utterly unhelpful, and didn't know much at all. What's the latest model? Which is more recent - the 7290 or 7730, and which is better?

Also - has anyone successfully set up a Lycos.com email account? With their free email you don't get to know the POP server, and from what I can gather from the Blackberry guff you may need to know this to set your email up.

Thanks,
CityGirl

unless you've got a burning need for real time sync'ing of your contacts/calender/email/etc.... it might make more sense to look at a sidekick or motorola's little phone that they have out....

Point is - I can't access internet mail at work, and I don't fancy having to dial up everytime I want to check my email and worrying about how many minutes I'm using. I want a Blackberry as an alternative to being able to pick up email at work, and also to use it on the move - I sit in front of a pc all day atwork, so I don't particularly want to do the same when I get home.

Ok the latest blackberry models are 7290 - (tmobile and cingular), 7250 (verizon), 7520 (nextel) and 7100 models (tmobile and cingular) make sure you get these as they are much better than the old ones.

Yes you do need to have pop access to get your email. However, if you have gmail account then you can get it for free. So you can forward all your emails to gmail and they use it with your blackberry.

Hope this helps.

You can also use the built-in web browser to check your lycos email if you have to.

Don't forget that, with the Blackberry, you will have to get a data plan in addition to your voice plan. Depending on where you are and what carrier you use, an unlimited data plan could add around $50 to your wireless bill.
