Trying to install client for Office Communicator on my Tour. Downloaded the app and it shows in apps list, but the icon is nowhere to be found. Not in the downloads folder, not in the applications folder, not in the IM folder, not hidden. Any thoughts on where it can be or how to run the program without the icon?

On a side note, getting this downloaded was a super hassle. Had to find some school that had it out there for their students. Can't find a bb site to download the client OTA. Wouldn't install via DM, as it kept saying "this software is not compatible with your device and will not be installed."

Then its likely its "not compatible with your device" and the icon cannot be found as it doesnt work.

Wouldn't it stop the installation if it wasn't compatible?

The cod's I downloaded and tried to install via DM and loader.exe are the files on blackberry.com specifically for the Tour.

not sure.
If you cant find the icon its probably hiding itself because it wont work.
Like when you install a theme not designed for your device.
It will install but then not show on the theme list under options.

So, two separate issues here I guess. I found the download from some random university IT site that posted for it's students. Once I downloaded that and installed, couldn't find the icon. So, I removed that app, downloaded the Tour specific client from blackberry.com, moved the cod files into the java folder and alx file into the folder, then ran DM, and says not compatible, even though it's the Tour client, and I'm trying to load to a Tour.

You dont have to move the files.
Just have the cod and alx in the same place.
run add/remove and click browse near the bottom and select the alx file.
It will again probably say not compatible, but its worth a try.

Thanks. I have seen those. Finally got it loaded. Deleted all BB software from my pc, downloaded it all again, had to go into properties on the cod and alx files and unblock them, then it loaded just fine. Thanks for being active on this one!

Ive noticed the strange unblock this came from another computer thing in properties of late.
really annoys me.

Xp Pro. I've never seen that unblock thing until I did more searching on my issue with loading OC and read about someone else's success after unblocking.

Ive never seen it until Vista.
It happens to me when I download torrent vids.
Until I unblock sometimes the audio doesnt play.

I assumed therefore it was a Vista thing
