Default Back to a 9700, but... (9780)

Please Login to Remove!

So, I recently tried the MT4G and geeked out on it for a week and am happily going back to a trusty 9700.

That being said, and the T-Mobile BOGO sale this coming Friday, I just may get the 9780 (since there is no Torch, BOO!)

I have read the specs and the only thing that has changed is the expanded RAM to allow a fluid OS6.

Being that the 9780 is basically a FW upgrade, its it even worth getting? Everything else seems to be the same. The Processor is the same, but with the RAM expansion, it should make the 9780 a tad bit more snappier, correct?

Any insights or any 9780 advantages over the 9700 comments will be greatly appreciated.

I love the keyboard on the 9300, but I hear the HW is crap, so, I'll stay with the 97xx series.

Thanks guys...

The camera is much better and faster. Other than that there is no real difference. 0S 6 is a gimmick imo. Not much of an upgrade at all.

So you have a 9780? Notice anything else better on it in comparison to the 9700?

I this it was a good idea for me to jump from 9700 to 9780 because browser was so clogged with cache issues. Now no issues with browser. Definitely keyboard feels little more comfy than 9700. I don't know why though because its should be same hardware. Good device.

Its supposed to be the same HW, how is the keyboard feel different?

On a similar note, I cannot confirm as I dont have a 9780 on-hand, but those that do, is the normal 9700 chrome bezel on the 9780 now a glossy black? In all the pictures I have seen, it looks like the 9780 has a glossy black, or gun metal bezel. Can anyone confirm?

I just loaded 6.0 onto my 9700. Yes the OS is snappier, the camera doesnt seen to have any lag anymore either. I have a Torch, so to me its not really a World of Difference. To me the refresh is a gimmick, the 9780 is the same exact phone as the 9700 , it feels the same, the hardware is the same, the keyboard, etc! The camera is bumped to 5 Mp, and yes the Ram is bumped up! Thats it!!! For people who are saying the keyboard is better , the Build quality is better, their Nuts! It's the same phone with some 6.0 ,bumped specs and internals. Thats it!

It's the same device. No material difference imo. The new black bezel is different but wouldn't say better. The device may have more memory and might be a tiny bit faster to navigate around but not worth spending more than about $5 on imo. I also am not blown away by the browser but perhaps that's because I carry my ipad around with me so many places.

The camera is really nice. OS 6.0 should be renamed OS 5.5....

I like having more memory and the glossy black bezel but I'm not sure it's worth the money if you already have the 9700.
