That usually works, but for grins I just tried it. I had typed it about 10 times and it was still coming up "face". At least "Dave" was the next suggestion in the list so it didn't take more than a quick flick of the finger to switch from "face" to "Dave".
If you type your name a lot, then add a custom autotext that maps "d" to "Dave" (Specified case) and then not only can you type your name with one letter, but it will capitalize itself without having to use the shift key. Using just the "d" also avoids the problem with not having a way to type "face" later when you need to.
"d" is the default character that appears when I hit my df key, but I don't know if that is due to the way my SureType engine has been trained by my typing. Hit the "df" key on yours first and verify what gets output by default before you set up the autotext mapping...
