Default BES 4.1 Release Date

I would not expect to see 4.1 until at least the end of the first quarter. I am on the BES beta team and we are seeing a lot of activity and changes being implemented. There is some greate functionality. The instant messaging connectivity is awesome(tested both domino and messenger), and the delegated administration is a god send

Would be nice if you could download the webcasts for offline viewing. Streaming video\audio is blocked where I work so I have to watch these webcasts from home after hours! I have suggested to RIM a few times that they make the webcast downloadable. I encourage everyone else to do the same.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Solution™ v4.1 will continue to build on many of the core features that have already made the BlackBerry platform the leading wireless solution for connecting mobile professionals to the people and information that drive business.

With the latest release of the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution, your organization could enjoy valuable new features and functionality in a solution that’s easier than ever to manage and support.

Easier Management and Support
With improved management of user groups and more secure administrator access, your organization could realize lowered costs by assigning some administrative duties to lower level staff.

Improved common administration console – provides a common interface for managing all the components of the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution.
Support for multiple administrator roles – provides more granular access to BlackBerry Enterprise Server® management functions and allows IT Administrators to assign roles and accompanying permission levels to specific sets of administrators.
Group-based administration – can ease administrative tasks by assigning properties and executing tasks across groups, such as IT policies, email filters, Personal Information (PIM) synchronization, autosignature, etc.

Enterprise Instant Messaging
Instant messaging solutions on BlackBerry devices are designed to keep users in touch with their instant messaging community of contacts. They allow users to exchange text messages quickly, getting answers to questions and increasing productivity.

Platforms Supported
With the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution v4.1, Enterprise Instant Messaging (IM) is available for the following platforms, allowing people to chat with other users of the same platform using a supported BlackBerry device:

IBM Lotus Sametime®
Windows® Messenger/Live Communications Server 2005
Novell GroupWise Messenger

BlackBerry Mobile Data System
BlackBerry Mobile Data System™ (MDS) v4.1 is the next generation of MDS. It is a complete and optimized workplace mobilization system for creating and deploying wireless applications for BlackBerry devices. Learn more about BlackBerry MDS v4.1.
