It is the coverage indicator.

If you wish to turn off the Blinking Green light Go to Options > Screen/Keyboard and turn LED Coverage Indicator to Off.

Yes, you will get notifications for them (they will be red). However, the green blinking light will just not show.

The notification will only flash for about 15 minutes. After that, if you don't check the phone, there will be no flashing LED.

The Facebook thing could be one of two things. First do you have a BlackBerry data plan?

You need a BlackBerry data plan to use the BlackBerry as it is intended to be used. Without it, you won't have access to the Internet Browser, BBM, Email, Facebook, etc.

Call Vodafone and ask for it. It will be an additional fee.

To use Facebook, you need a BlackBerry data plan. It will not work with WiFi.

Not without a third party application. It has been a long time since I've used it, but I believe the app was called BuzzMe. Try doing a Google search for it.

You could install them, possibly, but they wouldn't work.
