Default SBS and Exchange, What do I need for Blackberry/Outlook?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I am new to the forum, so please be gentle, lol.

Anyway, I have been using SBS/Exchange for a while, however the company I am currently working at has a number of users with Blackberrys and I am trying to get them to use SBS/Exchange 2003 server for their email, calendars etc.

However I am slightly confused at what Blackberry software they actually need.

They have around 4-5 users currently on Blackberry's although this may increase slightly, I can not see it getting above 10, possibly 12 so the Enterprise solution is just not cost effective. What else should I be using for them to have email, outlook calendars etc on the BB's ?

Altogether there will be more users on Outlook than there are using the blackberry side of things, some existing users have Iphones etc etc this is not an issue as far as I can tell as they should not interfere with the BB side of things.

I think thats it.

Any advice welcome.

Regards
Taz

If they will allow POP access, then you can get the company mail via BIS. The you can sync calendar and contacts using the USB cable or GoogleSync.

Another option would be to pay for each user to have a hosted BES account with someone like exchangemymail or mailstreet or similar provider.

Default Try this:

I haven't seen much marketing for it, but there is a new product they are offering that meets your exact need, you still have to pay for it, but it's a ton cheaper than the full BES product.

It's call Blackberry Professional
na.blackberry.com/eng/services/professional

You can get better pricing through a vendor like CDW.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

Dubdub thanks for the info, only I was looking for something similar to Enterprise without paying a monthly fee.
WraythOsu thats the software I found just now aswell only I could not find any pricing for it, until now, it appears the software is free with 1 licence from the BB site and additional pricing for CAL.

I have found this site in the UK selling it for a very reasonable price it appears.
at devicewire co uk /blackberry-sbe-bes-5-user-cal

312.99 for 5 users.

Although I am trying to find definate info if it will do what I want, it appears to, but I would like to double check with someone thats actually used it.

Regards

You are not bugging anyone. This is a forum.
I thought you needed info about BPS and I gave a link that gives alot of info.
There was no question in post #4.

Do you have a specific question? the previous ones seem to have been answered.

Hi mate, sorry but it appeared I was annoying people, I am pretty much shattered after the long weekend I have had trying to sort out issues with SBS and blackberry's etc.

I don't appear to be getting my head around the whole BPS issue, is the software free with 1 licence and you pay approx 300/$500 for 5 licences ? Will it definately sync calendars from outlook aswell as email without having to put the BB in the cradle etc ?

Regards

BPS does not sync with outlook but with Exchange.

It will sync initially up to 14 days of emails or up to 750 emails.
IIRC Calendar will sync recurring items and 30 days of past entries.

Default SBS 2003 Help

I am currently on AppRiver with hosted exchange but just moved to new company, i am the only bb user all others are on iPhone.

I want to keep my bb and we host our own email on our file server, we are running SBS 2003.

Own IT Guy, I hate that line, says he is having trouble with getting the free version of the BES to run with SBS 2003.

Are their know issues? I cant believe RIM would put a free small bus app out that is incompatible with SBS 2003.
