Default 8700 & BT headset issue

Please Login to Remove!

I haven't used my 8700 in quite some time as I have the Pearl now but today I thought I would load the Bharti OS onto it so I did and all went smooth. I put my sim card into the 8700 after the OS upgrade to make sure everything was working and it was so I was happy.

Before going back to my Pearl though I thought I would pair up a couple of new BT headsets that I have for my Pearl with the 8700 just to see if there was a difference in audio quality.

I paired up the Plantronics Voyager 510 with no issues. It was easy to pair and it worked. I also tried the Sony Ericsson HBH-GV435 with the 8700 but the 8700 won't even recognize it. Everytime I do a search for the headset it doesn't find it and gives me the no device found do I want to search again message.

I found this odd as it works with my Pearl and so does the Plantronics 510. Does anyone know why my 8700 sees the Plantronics headset and not the Sony Ericsson one? I am curious as to what's causing this. Thanks.

I could be totally wrong on this I am guessing but maybe if your headset is BT 2.0 maybe that's why it won't work with the 8700. I am not sure why it would work with the 8100 and not the 8700.

I would say that your headset was not in pairing mode and that is why the 8700 could not see the headset

Normally on a ericsson the LED has to be either constantly on or flash between blue and red whihc indicates it is in pairing mode.

Have you tried holding multi function button down on your headset for 10 secs

This Sony Ericsson headset has auto pairing so all you need to do is turn it on then use your device to search for it. There are no buttons to push when pairing the headset to a phone or data device.

It works with my Pearl and my friends Pearl's but not with the 8700 at all.
Maybe Nitty has a point about the 2.0 factor. I checked the box and it says Bluetooth 2.0. I don't use the 8700 now so it's not a big deal but if something happens to my Pearl (God forbid) & I go back to the 8700 I won't be able to use the SE headset with it only the Plantronics headset :(

There are many reasons it may notwork including the security setting the servers. I suggest reading this RIM link

Livelink - Redirection

to see if it helps. The BB has many restrictions to offer security.

hope this helps
