Default 8800 DST & Time Questions

Please Login to Remove!

I just received my 8800 the other day but was curious about 2 things.

1) I did a search for the daylight savings time patch and the info I found states it's included in the new OS already. I am curious though on my other BlackBerry I would see "2007 DST Patch" when I went into options but I do not see that with the 8800. Does that mean mine may not be patched?

2) I have my Date/Time Source set as network. My 8800 displays the correct day and time however if I go into Options/Date/Time I see all the info (my timezone, etc...) however at the bottom it says Network Time and the time is 1hr behind. However in the time field it reads the actual time (1 hr ahead).
I have my time zone set correctly and it displays the proper time on the main display but how come in network time it reads 1hr behind?

I resent the service books and rebooted the 8800 and I still see the same thing so I am not sure if that's normal or not. Can any of you shed any light on this?

the 4.2.1 OS's are patched internally. You won't see the patch but it's there.

Go to Options >Date/Time. Highlight Time Zone: Click the Pearl. Look at the list of time zones. You should see Mexico City-New in the list of time zones. That tells you you've got the patch.

The way the devices handle calendar appointments and DST changed in OS 4.2.1. Since it is not a patch to the OS, the patch information in Options won't be listed. This will be the same when OS 4.2.1 is released for the 8700 and Pearl.

If the patch is pushed to you by your BES administrator, or if you decide to install it yourself, it will be listed in Options and will say, "2007 DST patch applied." It won't change anything, but if you have the patch, you will know.

Just to clarify, it appears that our BES admin will push the patch regardless if I have the 8800 or not. I checked and I do have the "Mexico City - New" timezone listed.

1) If it's pushed to my 8800, will there be any issues?
2) Here's something weird now. All appointments from March 10 and back are right. All appointments from March 11 and forward have the 1 hour variance. So if I may an appointment on my Blackberry in the future from March 11 and one, it should a one hour difference between my Lotus Notes and the BB. Any ideas?

Well, I can tell you that you should not have any issues if the patch is applied to your 8800.

The patch that's pushed is smart enough to know if its needed or not. It will see your OS version and abort.

Also if you need or think you need the patch, go to your browser and then blackberry home page. Link there to install the patch.

It may not do anything, but it doesn't look like it aborted. It sits as the first items in options (as 2007 DST Patch) on my 8800.
