Default Spam and BES Express question.

Please Login to Remove!

I have been asked to try and find out about moving to BES by our work IT guru.. As he know's I'm a BB user, he asked if I could post this question here:

Blackberry Enterprise Server Express

Our system:
Server 1: Windows Small Business Server 2003 (domain controller and exchange server).
Server 2: Windows Server 2008 <- planned install server
Email System: Exchange 2003

Questions

Will the Express system work with Exchange 2003?

Will it be possible to view subfolders in our exchange Inbox on BES Express? At present we have an anti spam system that delivers suspect mail to three subfolders in our inboxes and we would like to be able to access them from the Blackberry handsets.

Lastly, we have been informed that the BES Express will not run on our domain controller (SBS 2003 system above) – is this still true for 5.0.3?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, Blackberry Enterprise Server Express will work on sbs2003. And spam, if in your mailbox subfolder you can see it but it will show spam msg as a message in your bb inbox.

BES express is made for SBS. Full BES does not like to be installed on a domain controller, maybe thats what they were thinking

I would add, that even if the BESx v5 does work on a SBS2003 together with exchange, memory is a little tight, depending on what other applications are running on the server. If you have a machine with 4GB of RAM+Exchange+BES that will do. But I dont know, if for example you host larger SQL database on the server if the performance is acceptable after adding the BES.
If you add a new Machine based on 2008R2, better install the BESx on this machine.

if that means the BES will be installed there this is what I would recommend.
It does not matter if the Server is a DC or not, the BESx will work. Also it does not matter if it is a SBS server or a normal server.

go 64 bit if possible, so you can add more RAM later on if needed
