Hello All,

Just returned from a trip to Alaska. While traveling, my 8300 pretty much went beserk. How you ask?

Well, when replying to an email, I type 2-3 letters, and it sends without me pressing send.

When I am searching for someone in the address book, it just calls someone along the way. I never reach the person I'm trying to call.

When I want to change the ringer from vibrate to low, or high, etc. It won't provide access.

Finally, I must use the return key to select options, rather than the roller ball.

The list goes on...

Although I'm totally enthused about the upcoming Bold, I have a few weeks to go (allegedly), and need my current 8300 to hang in there just a bit longer.

I've tried removing the battery and restarting the system, but no luck.

I need help. Can you provide that?

It sounds like your BlackBerry might have gotten wet, or gotten moisture in it. You should check the sticker under the battery to see if it's still white.

If the sticker to which you refer is on the battery, mine is pink with 4 little x's. If that's the one, then moisture did enter the unit. Perhaps Rim should consider a little rubber gasket. Anyway, I take responsibility, as Alaska is kind of wet.

So now what? Given that I intend to replace this unit with a Bold, is there anything I can/should do?

The most important thing is to leave the battery out until the device is completely dried out. If you put the battery in too soon, it can ruin the device. Hopefully with some luck, you can get yours back to normal. There are other threads here where BlackBerrys went for a swim and survived after proper drying out treatment. Good luck.
