Default Memory wipe if incorrect password is entered too many times?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm new to my BB 9700 and I entered in an incorrect password 5 times (not sure why it kept saying it was incorrect). Then it started "wiping the memory". I took the battery out for fear it would wipe my SIM card as well. So... when it "wipes the memory", does it wipe out EVERYTHING? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

It does not wipe the SIM card or media card. It only wipes your device memory of contacts, calendar events, messages, persona data and preferences. It does not wipe your device operating system.

Are you sure? Because I let it do the wipe and none of my pictures or SIM contacts are on their respective cards....

Pictures aren't stored on the SIM card. Just phone numbers. Nothing else.

What everyone has told you is correct. The wipe will not touch your media or sim cards. Are you sure the pictures and contacts are where you thought they were?

- If you don't have a working media card, pictures are stored in device memory.

- on a BB, contacts are usually stored in device memory.

What, exactly, was on your SIM card before you wiped out the data on your BlackBerry?

your sim card was not wiped.

your sim card can not store picture data. only a name and a number.

if you had pictures associated with a contact, that was stored in the devices addresbook.... meaning, it imported the contacts from the sim.

and i hope you've learned your lesson! BACK UP!

Yes, I learned my lesson. Thank you for the spanking. YES I KNOW the SIM card only stores names and numbers... but I didn't think it would wipe my SIM card clean as well. Lesson learned.

Okay... I'm guessing that when BB imports my contacts from my SIM card to my phone, it does NOT leave a copy of them on my SIM card.... so... I learned that lesson too. F&%k!

Well... NJBlackBerry... I have ZERO contacts on my SIM card... I tried importing them again from my SIM card to my BB and all is there is Help, Check mins, Check Bal, check Text usage, and MyProfile. I went under set up and set import SIM contacts to address book and there is NOTHING there. Gone. Zilch. Gonzo. :(
