Default Unknown caller on call display with Fido

Please Login to Remove!

Got a unlocked BB Storm. Fido plan includes 500MB BB data and $10 Value Pack (caller id, name display, who called, voice mail and 2500 text).

I have two issues. Email is not working, what is required to make it function?

Secondly, call display is erratic. I get name diplayed sometimes, mostly "unknown caller". I have read some and know I should deactivate "name display feature" to get functioning caller id. However, Fido rep tells me they cannot remove name display as I got the Value Pack. Is he correct or is there a way around this. I would like call display.

Any help much appreciated.

Do you have a blackberry package with your fido plan, or did you just put your sim in and expect everything to work?

Callers have the ability to block their number now, and there is nothing you can do about that except never answer an "unknown" caller. That's what I do. They all get ignored. Unknown or unavailable numbers get no daylight with me.

To get data services like mail, you need a BlackBerry data plan or bolt-on. You can drop the other stuff if you get a legit BlackBerry data plan.

Just to add to what Rambo said. You may want to answer the unknown caller. When a Fido rep was trying to reach me twice earlier this week she called me both times from an unknown number.

Unfortunately, the name display feature cannot be removed if it is an inclusive code in the value pack. I doubt that would be the cause, I think the issue is you are using a unlocked phone on their network. Fido can't garuntee services will work on a unlocked phone due to possible incompatibality issues.

Remember, call display shows you the people listed in your phone book, and will only show people who are not in your phone book if they have the name display feature themselves.

As for data not working, I've seen some people buy unlocked storms that were stolen, and because they were reported as such and blocked, they could not get data services with any of the carriers.
