The other day I was playing with the lock feature on my BB when I accidently pushed the Emergency Call button. I canceled out of this with no problem but today while viewing my call log I noticed that it had dialed 112 and not 911. I have read that there is no way to change the dialed Emergency Number but how is dialing 112 going to work here in the US? Any input would be apprecieated since I would rather not have to call AT&T or RIM to figure this out.

Nothing to figure out or investigate. 112 is a worldwide cellular only emergency number that will put you in contact with emergency services in the area you are in.

Emergency Number on GSM Cell Phones
What if you are in an unfortunate situation, like a car wreck in a road to nowhere, and you badly needed help- and your phone is out of network. You just can't get enough signal to make a call. Do you know what number to dial to get through an emergency line? 112 is the emergency number worldwide for all cell phones. So if you are in an out- of -coverage area, you can still get in touch with someone through an emergency hotline by dialing 112 on your keypad.
Dialing 112 would allow your cell phone to search for any existing network signal and establish a connection where you can get in touch with someone during an emergency. Even if you have your keypad locked, 112 can still work and you don't even have to unlock your keypad's phone to dial this number. In most cases, you can still dial 112 even if you cell phone does not have a SIM card.
How come 112 is the worldwide number for emergency calls? It works this way. 112 is the standard emergency number in most countries and in countries that has a different emergency hotline, calling 112 on your GSM cell phone would allow the system to redirect your call to a local emergency hotline. So if you are a traveler in a foreign land and do not have any idea of what number to call in case of emergency, dialing 112 would definitely help you connect with someone that can help.
112 is recognizable by almost all GSM phones to be an emergency call. If a cell phone user dials 112, it forces the phone to look for any network, even if it's not your provider's network. But in some countries like Spain and in UK, there are incidents that calls failed to connect to an emergency hotline if the phone used is not under a valid account. Other countries treat emergency calls differently. But the important things is, dialing 112 can help you get in touch with someone that can possibly help you in an emergency situation, wherever you may be.

So if it dials 112 here in the US it will still connect to the local 911 center as if I dialed 911?

I think this is not pushed in the US to not confuse people.

When you hear that they stopped saying dial "nine eleven" and started saying "nine one one" because people couldn't find the eleven button, that makes sense.
