Please Login to Remove!

So I noticed last night I had some dust under the screen. Has anyone else seen this?

This problem has been reported on other forums. I'm curious as to how pervasive the problem is across devices, and how the dust is entering the device.

Seperately, how are your running and 9100 on ATT? Unlocked from Canada?

Yup I seen the threads on the other forums. I was seeing if there were others. I notice a gap between the keyboard and the screen where it maybe coming in.

Yes it is a unlocked Bell version... runs great, BES runs smooth!

I don't know how it varies from model to model, but I think if you carry the device in your pocket it is going to happen. Maybe a sleeve cover will help. No personal experience; just what I gather from reading forums and talking to people. I've always used a holster and no dust under the screen.

I guess you have a point aiharkness....with its slim size, I have been putting it in my pocket. I just did not think it would gather dust so fast! I guess the mystery answered!

So i noticed a part of the lid, or cover to the screen was lifting off by the music keys. I pulled up a little more and noticed that the adhesive they use was not sticking anymore. So i found how all the dust is getting in. They use this double sided thin tape, which I am trying to find. I was thinking of using some contact cement. So check out your screen areas!

Thanks all for the updates on this issue. Too bad about the build quality problems. I really want to get my hands on this device, and was going to get one from NewEgg if ATT doesn't release it in the next week or two. Of course they are now out of stock and someone on another forum is reporting that they were sold a test model that was rendered disabled. I'm wondering if ATT (and TM ?) are delaying release until build issues are resolved. Other explanations are certainly plausible too (e.g., competing devices and perception that there is little consumber interest in the device).

Don't get me wrong this little package is the best think next to the 9700. It has everything the 9700 has but with the smaller foot print. It is sad the build quality, the screen cover is a simple fix but you should not have to deal with it. I dont think you will be disappointed wit it!

I got a 9100 for my wife about a month ago and she brought the dust issue under the screen to my attention a few days ago. I put a scheen protector on soon after she got it. No scratches on the screen, but dust berween the layers of glass/plastic of the screen. From the desrcription of the issue, it is a design defect which lets dust get in between the layers of glass/plastic of the screen. I have had other Blackberry's for years and my wife has had cell phones for years also and we have never experienced this issue of dust under the screen before.

Default dust under screen

I too have had this problem. This is ph number 4 in just 6 weeks. Each phone has had same issue. The screen starts to lift when ph gets warm. The tape they use is poor. Check all screens before purchase. Also when hitting audio control on top of pearl puts pressure on screen and helps to detach screen from tape. No quality control with this model. Going to 9700. To think I left iphone. Frustrated user.

It is very normal. You can take the phone apart to clear it. I have done it before. First, I will find a take apart video first, then I will prepare cleanser and professional cloth. You can done it with the two help. What kind of cellphone do you have? I can find a take apart video for you.
