Default Torn with the Torch

Please Login to Remove!

I first got the torch and had it for a few days and it seemed to lag and not do the things, I thought a BB should (as my others did). Had to touch screen a few times to get it to respond and push the buttons also, the same way.
Then crazy me decides, ok I will try the Aria. Pretty cool phone and worked flawlessly. But once when I recieved an email, I was replying back, I went back to his email to make sure I answered all his questions, I want to go back to mine and it was gone. Which wasted my time. I thought, "well can't have that". So I went back in and realised that I have to go back to the business style phone BlackBerry. I got the Torch again Now this thing locks up and very unresponsive. Actually worse than the 1st one. With in 3 days I have had to pull battery 3-4 times.
So, my delima is, do I go to the 9700 or back to the Aria. I love my BB but can't have issues that shouldn't be.
Any info and or advise is appreciatted. I do like the 5 mp camera for work, its great.

That has to be your decision, not something we can answer for you. I like my 9800 and it does what I need it to do. Not planning on reverting to the 9000 or going to an iPhone.

I like my 9800,works great with exception some apps are not compatible w/6.0 at this time but that will be fixed in do time, the problems you describe I don't have although you could be running different apps than me....look in app management to see what app could possibly taking up lots of CPU Memory.

The Torch does have an a lot of lag, especially for a berry. As for the Aria, I have its big brother, the EVO, and I luv it. However its my personal device, not my business. If u must have a berry, I'd grab the 9700 if u had enough with the Torch. RIM could have done better, but remember this is the first go around with 6.0 and the new browser. It'll get better with time.

I went from the 8310 to the 9800 bypassed the 9000 was waiting for a bigger screen, although I believe I jumped the gun on the torch..should of have waited and let someone else test the new OS...I see future leaks in the air

6.0.0.161 seems to be a lot less lag than the original 6.0.0.141. I'm much happier with my 9800 since I upgraded the OS.

Can't agree more - for me .161 made all the difference, however I expected RIM to get a more responsive device out of the box in the first place!

The only apps I got is Fox News, Facebook, Weather Channel and a Bible ap. Mine will lag pretty much anywhere. You can hit the back button and nothing happens and then touch the screen and nothing. You can even run your finger over different things and nothing. Give it a minute or so and poof it will work. Also, if I want to send a pic it will take forever to send, with my 9000 it would go quick. Half the pics I send with the Torch won't send. I am going back into ATT Tuesday if things go well.

I am sad to report that I returned my 3rd Torch on Saturday and exchanged it for a Bold 9700.

The first one (no fault of RIM) had the touch-trackpad scratched by the AT&T salesperson that sold me the phone. She put it face-down on the counter and slid it over to me. Smart.

The 2nd one had an issue with the slider being loose.

The 3rd one the start/BB/back/end buttons were not actually buttons, rather a label that started peeling off almost immediately.

I contemplated getting a 4th Torch, but decided I just didn't have the patience.

I'm not happy being back on OS 5, but having a 2nd generation device that is SOLID and has incredible battery life is refreshing.

All of my 3rd party app issues seem to be gone with 6.0.0.214. Haven't seen any of the lag issues either. Still early. But I'm happy so far.
