I've used both and the 8700 keyboard isn't all thet great either.

Obviously, the problem with the 7130 keyboard is Suretype. The 8700, the keys are stiff and spaced too close together.

If you don't mind the suretype, I would stick with the 7130.

Funny, I love the 8700. No keyboard issues whatsoever.

I agree. I made just as many mistakes using the 8700 as SureType. I since switched to the 7130e from the 8700 and couldnt be happier. EVDO tethered modem rocks.

I do wish Verizon would release firmware upgrades.

Default Any updates on Verizon and 8700????

Does anyone have an update on when Verizon will launch a 8700? I imagine if TMobile is launching that the exclusive period is over. I don't want to switch to Cingular and even though I like the 7130e I still want the 8700! Thanks!

Thanks DWD! I thought since it had been over a month that maybe there was an update. I figured Verizon didn't want to make any new product moves until all was clear in the patent infringement law suit...

The posts in each thread are numberd so check post #2 is saying go up to the top of the page and count two posts and read that one. A quick search means to use the search button before you post because most of the time the answer to the question you are after has been posted already by someone else. You are encouraged to read a lot of these threads, as you will learn a lot, get answers to a lot of the questions you have and to some you have not even thought off as of yet.

Thanks KT! Cool! I am really looking forward to the EVDO 8700-like... This can get addictive. No wonder they call it crackberry...

With the impending announcement of T-Mobile's 8700 does that mean, that Verizon's version will be much further down the road???? This is starting to bug me. What's up with Verizon?????

Verizon is notoriously late to the game - look how long it took them to release the 7103, RAZR, etc. If you want to use an 8700 in the short term, I would consider trying it out on Cingular or T-Mobile (soon). If VZW does come out with an 8700 it prob won't be for a long while. Plus, they are heavily focused on the 700w right now.

There's lots of rumors about Verizon releasing an 8700 device. The latest I've heard is maybe..... and if so not until late sumer.

the 8700 looks better than the Q. I have a 7130 and would be interested in seeing a 8700 on verizon.

Heh, see, to each his own. I quite enjoy the Q and if I could get a GSM version, I would seriously think about it. Although, who knows how good push works on the new Exchange?

i recently upgraded to a 7130e with Verizon and it didn't sound like they are going to come out with a new version (didn't ask what type) until late summer according to the rep. sounded like it was going replace the 7230 that they carry.
