First Post From Windows Vista!

I just got done installing Windows Vista on my machine, and this is my first post from the new OS. Haven't tried to install the Desktop Manager yet, was hoping maybe someone else was already running it on Vista and could provide some advice.

Heck no. Every time I've tried to install it something bad has happened. First, it blew up my boot sector and refused to allow me to put GRUB back on there to manage booting to my other OSes. Later, the second time, it blue screened on install every time. The third time, it just refused to find any "valid partitions" even though there was a whole empty hard drive for it. The last time I tried to install it, my video card fried. I think it's an omen. No Vista for me.

Ive got it but no time to play with it. If RIM wrote their drivers correctly it should work.

I'm running x64 version on a shuttle that overheats easily. Installing it on flaky overheating hardware was FUN! Anyhow, does BDM even work on 64bit stuff as it is?

I have run the upgrade advisor and it is telling me I need 15 GB of space but I only have 12.40 GB. I also will need to upgrade my graphics adaptor in order to run the Home Premium Version. I wish I could cause XP Home is giving me fits about being corrupt.

I'm running a p4 1.7ghz overclocked to 2.6, 1gb ram, ATI X1300 and about 1.5 terabytes of hard drive space, and vista is still way slow

Iv tried it several times at different points in its development but all the builds are far too slow. I got desktop manager installed on beta 2 but could not get it to detect the Bb even when it finally found my usb ports.

Beta 2 and RC1 will be public betas. The version available is the Ultimate edition.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...y/default.mspx
I've got it running up here at work on an Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0GHz) with 1GB of RAM and some 64MB nVidia video card - works fine, and I don't really notice any unexpected slowness.
Desktop Manager installs just fine on Vista. The drivers provided by RIM install the handheld just fine. The interaction between Vista and the handheld does not work - the handheld is not detected, despite the non-Vista drivers being installed (getting the USB is not sufficient error on the handheld). Desktop Manager is also not compliant with Outlook 2007 Beta 2 (atleast not in cached mode configured for an Exchange-residing mailbox). With Desktop Manager 4.1.1, it atleast will open up - previous versions of BDM just crashed with Office 2007.
At any rate, with the release of Beta 2 to the public for Vista, and RC1 within a few more months, I think RIM needs to jump on the bandwagon and release software and driver support for both Vista and Office 2007. As of now, no new code will be added, thus we're pretty much in the final stages of the OS (bug fixes will be made, but that should affect driver design and support for attached devices).

That kinda seems to be the problem...people with nVidia have no problems, but if you have an ATI card, you're kinda screwed

I definitely would be open to installing it...when I get my new laptop, I am going to make sure it is vista compatible. All of the sony viaos are vista ready.
