Question JVM Error 529 and 525

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, I was typing out a text message on my blackberry 6210 and it rebooted on its own. Fine, whatever, I think, and wait for it to reboot. I then get an error message on the screen that says "JVM Error 529 - Continue". When I continue, I get the hourglass again and then after a few seconds, I get "JVM Error 525 - Reset". I allow it to reset and get the same errors again, and again, and... well, you get the idea. Admittedly, the BB is a little old now (3 years? or so.) Is there any way to fix this, or should I just bite the bullet and upgrade?

Thanks! Mythorn

Ok, can you point me at the directions to do so? I looked on the BB website and didn't see anything to show how to wipe it.

Thanks!

1. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, double-click Intellisync, and then click
Auto start... .

2. Make sure the only option checked is Update handheld's date and time.

3. Click OK, then click Close.

After completing the steps below, if you want to synchronize your BlackBerry again,
make sure to reselect the auto start options you deselected above, or your device will
continue to only update the date and time when cradled.

To clear personal data from your BlackBerry, follow the directions below:

1. Cradle your device. (Edit: This does not apply to a 7100 series BlackBerry.
Thought I'd add this cause it confuses people).

2. If the BlackBerry you are clearing is not the one you are currently using, you will
see a Redirector Settings pop-up that says your email account is set up to use a
different device and asking if you want to change it to work with this device. Click No.

3. Double-click Application Loader, then click Next.

4. If prompted, enter your password.

5. On the Handheld Application Selection screen, click Next.

6. You will see the message "No actions are required." Click Advanced. If you have
an 850 or 950 series device, click Next on the Handheld Storage Allocation screen.

7. On the Handheld Data Preservation screen, click to check Erase all application
data. Click Next.

8. On the Application Data Backup screen, select Do not automatically back up and
restore the handheld application data during the loading process. Click Next.

9. Click Finish. Make sure you do not remove the handheld from the cradle until the
clearing process is finished.

If that doesn't work, and I don't think it will, please post back and we can give you instructions on how to wipe out the BB and completely reload the OS. I don't think the prior instructions will work since the JVM errors will kick in before it can complete.

Ok, you're right, the JVM errors popped up even before the system could recognize the BB properly. You mentioned how to do a reset that would wipe everything? That'd be ok, most of the stuff I have in there is backed up, and what isn't is easy to re-add.

You might need to do java -usb wipe before all this ..... so to have a clean berry if it does not boot.

What worked for me was to download the newest desktop manager and handeld software. Run desktop manager than run handheld software. When complete. connect the berry and do a reboot when hour glass shows up open up desktop manager and hit application loader before the hour glass dissapears. Than with application loader add the handheld software after install the java error should disappear.
