Exclamation Latest OS: 8120 4.5.0.52 / 4.5.0.37 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

was on my way downloading 4.3 happen to come across 4.5 its officially released through Telefonica

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.52 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.52
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.37
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.55
  • File name: 8120M_PBr4.5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37_Telefoni ca.exe
  • File size: 85.25MB

link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...9E92D324F56DE0

Instructions for installing:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. Currently, the latest version available is 4.3 and may be downloaded here: http://www.blackberry.com/go/softwaredownloads

2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.

3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It is located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Apploader

4. Plug in the BlackBerry and open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." Don't unplug from the PC & Don't remove the battery unless the spinning hourglass has been there for 30 minutes or more. If the hourglass has been spinning for more than 30 minutes continuously you will need to wipe the device with JL_Cmder (close out of Desktop Manager during this process.) You will then end up with a white screen with small icons and an error code number like 507 or 543.

Link to Previous OS Thread: Click Here

*Note: During Beta testing of this OS on TMobile devices many sim cards were "fried" and had to be replaced and UMA didn't work. Load on TMo devices at your own risk.

*Note: Also, on all devices it's a good idea to make a backup of your media card before loading OS 4.5. Constant reboots can occur when using media cards formatted in OS 4.2 or 4.3 in OS 4.5. Then reformat the media card in OS 4.5 and restore your data.

*Note: While in Application Loader be sure and check the boxes to add Documents To Go to your device. Failure to install Documents To Go will cause java errors in some 3rd party apps.

Please put in the application version number instead of package version number as the post title.

It is still the .37 one, so everyone don't get too excited! But it is still the first released .37 version.

Edited post and stuck thread.

It's worthy to note that this is now an official release but is the same as the beta version that had issues on TMobile. The issues and warning are in the first post.

after the whole chaotic experience with the Beta version i was running, i am holding off on this version until tmo comes out with 4.5 it could just be me though, i dont see the huge deal in between 4.3 and 4.5, documents on the go is good, other than that i am not exactly sure what is the great advantage. dont feel like taking the risk anymore after the beta 4.5 failed so miserably on me, lol

It loaded without issue on mine. I haven't noticed major changes though except that new SMS aren't bold anymore (that's quite silly BTW) and browser works very well.

Hmmmm....

Now notice a problem on mine - using Voadfone. Where previosly it worked perfectly picking Wi-Fi up; it now picks the Wi-Fi up just the same but doesn't use it. The Wi-Fi icon in settings shows orange not green..

Tweaked things around - no correction

aaaaggh

I hope T-Mobile releases an official one before (or shortly after) the BIS upgrade. I wouldn't want to install this one and have problems.

Ok....so I was too curious and decided to download this new os to my Tmobile 8120.
Here are the results:
Everythings works fine except I can't seem to long into windows live messenger. Gives me a Service not enabled for this handheld. All the other messenger log in fine. The browser looks a little different with a google search engine included. I like the new media player. Havent played around with Documents to go yet but I'll let you know how it works.

li, you can set your default search engine from Google to another in the Browser options.

Try downloading and re-installing WLS.

WLM seems to be working ok now. I'm not sure why it wasn't working before. Thanks for the tip J!! I'll try changing it in the browser.

Hey the problem with frying simcards on Tmo, is that an immediate thing or is that something it is likely to do at anytime? I have been running this OS for a month with no problems, excepted the noted camera either being whitewashed or too dark, but I don't want it to kill my simcard if it is likey to do so.
