Is there any truth to the rumour that the beta OS6 releases for the 9700, are just as good on the battery as the OS5's...???

So the battery drainage in OS6 beta on the 9700 is just as good as the OS5's? I know the Torch is absolutely horrible and figured that it was just OS6 in general...

Pokey, the releases are done to fix issues like this
battery drainage could be caused by multiple things;
- How many apps youi have open all the time
- Screen brightness
- Are you running apps that are constantly updating in the background (ie: weathernetwork)
- Is your wifi / bluetooth on

if anything I have found that the most recent release that was leaked for the 9700/6.0.0.461 has been good for battery life. I would only begin to assume that it would be the same for the 9780 and for the 9800/6.0.0.450 seems to be really good for battery life as well. just have to keep control of different things on the device.

Yes. For me this new release has been really good on battery life. I don't have many apps but compared to the other releases this has been the best so far.

And one of the nice things in OS6 is the ease of which you can turn off WiFi & Bluetooth if you want...

I currently have OS 5.0.0.862 on my phone. Do you think this beta OS6 release will be better on battery life?

It is better for me. I plug my phone in every evening around 11 and unplug when I wake up. I don't think I ever had a battery problem.

My battery life has increased I get 2 and a half days withou charging at all on my device and that will bring me down to about 20% battery life. and that is with constant use

Searches would run but it would never turn any results. The icon would show loading....and that's it.

Search works fine for me (it still cannot find a street name or city in the address book).

But i do not see a difference to the 448 version.

It's been documented all over the web...
What happens is that sometimes on an install of .448, the universal search won't search e-mails and other categories. I had the issue several times myself on both my 9700 /9780. I had to resolve it by performing a fresh wipe /install.

I just noticed this on .461. If you have the option set for application shortcuts instead of universal search, and you start entering numbers only in the universal search box, you get a "dial" option. Not sure if this is new to this release or not, but it's a very slick feature!
