The media card has nothing to do with themes, at all.

And very very little media is recommended for your device memory. You'll be back needing know why your call logs, SMS and calendar items are being deleted.

Themes go onto the device memory. You can install medis onto your BB without a sd card but it is better to use a sd card as device memory is precious.

To check your file free space go to options > status. For best performance try and keep it at around 12 - 15mb or more.

Messages, call logs, SMS and calendar entries get deleted if the device memory drops too low (i.e. 0MB). This is why you want to save music and pictures to an SD card and not to the phone's memory. Also, don't install unnecessary themes and/or applications as your memory will drop because of this.

As Foxglove said, 12-15MB or more of device memory is good for the phone to provide its best performance, this does not mean that if you drop to let's say 11MB or 10MB that the phone will crap out on you, but some applications may seem slower than usual.

So just be wise and stingy with the media you throw on your device memory.

This is what Media Cards are made for.
