I had a BES with 4000 users on it. It connected to 2 Exchange servers and there were no problems.

how'd it work? No attachments over 100k on the server; all messages older than 7 days automatically purged, and no calendar / pim sync.

Personally I stick to somewhere between 800 and 1200 / server; depending on the environment.

HDawg - That's an interesting test, but certainly not a practical production environment for most. But that speaks volumes about the MAX users per BES question.

The reality is that there are so many environment variables that RIM could never say definitively how many users you should have per BES in your environment. Most people don't have the time or the tools to do a good job of capacity planning, so they just cap users per BES at 1000 or 1200.

Indeed ... and ^^^ was a production environment. Unique, but production.
