Software For BlackBerry® Curvexxx8482; 9300 smartphone
This will install to any carrier's 9300 device by following the directions below.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.2921 (Asia)

Package Version: 6.0.0.2921
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 6.0.0.666
  • Software Platform: 6.6.0.241
  • File name: 9300jAllLang_PBr6.0.0_rel2921_PL6.6.0.241_A6.0.0.6 66_SmarTone_Vodafone.exe
    File size: 178.21MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...4B931C35A169B0

Instructions to install, regardless of carrier:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously).
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a screen with an hourglass or status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Has anyone actually been able to download the file? Every time I try, it times out. Most I can get is 58.6mb.

Something is seriously messed up in this build. Calls don't come through as expected. They ring once and then nothing.

Reverting back a version seems to have fixed the issue.

Thanks to your thread, finally got to update the 9300 from 5.0.0.977 to this one. However I did not use the loader app anymore. After removing the vendor.xml, I just started the bb desktop. It prompted me that theres a device update and from there I updated with no issue.

This version working very well, no issues.

This version now takes ages to boot! On acquaring my 9300, I had been impressed by the little amount of time it took to boot. Now it feels like I am back to my old 8300 model.

Another bug is: "Now the alarm doesn't go if the phone were switched off. The alarm only switches the phone on but doesn't sound." Sad
