All,
long-time Nextel BB user...went to Sprint and using the Palm 700wx for now. I would jump on a Pearl if they made one for CDMA/Sprint. I tried the pearl with t-Mobile, but the network was AWFUL. I like Sprint's network much better.

Anyone know if RIM plans to release a Pearl for CDMA and when?

It will be WAAAAAAAY after 1/30. Look for it in about 9 months to a year. Standard fare for CDMA releases...about a year after the GSM version.

I work for a Sprint Dealer in Indiana, and we asked our bb rep for some free 8703e's and he said nope but I will send you some pearl's in Feb

Sprint will be releasing the 8800 prior to the Pearl and that isn't excpect until end Q2 at the earliest.

Is there any new links that confirm any information about the 8800 for Sprint? I have a lot of international travelers in my firm, which is why I still have a few T-MOBILE devices... If Sprint can offer an international Blackberry that would be perfect!

I guess we shouldn't expect a review unit from RIM, right? The BlackBerry Pearl 2 or "Komet" (internal codename) has secretly whispered some fantastic specs and features in our ear today. Some earth-shattering BlackBerry Pearl 2 new features revealed? We could start off with the external MicroSD card slot, or the stereo Bluetooth, but that's not that interesting to most. The really interesting, and juicy details, start now! The BlackBerry Pearl 2,or Komet, or 8110, or 8120, or 8130 will feature a 3.2 megapixel camera. The difference with this camera, as reported to us, is that it will be used horizontally. Just like other high end camera phones. The colors we reported here first were pretty much spot on; metallic red, blue, gold, and black. In addition to the new camera, the P2 will include Windows Media DRM & MTP support. Also look for motion lock, and a built-in 3.5 mm headset jack just like the BlackBerry Curve. For all you freaks out there who love to hear yourself speak, the Voice Notes application has been enhanced and given a complete makeover; it will be housed as a component within the "Media" application (now up to five multimedia applications) and allow you to save all of your recordings and play them back upon command from your new collection of self-therapy sessions. A reliable tipster has filled us in on a juicy secret.

The biggest update? High speed EV-DO. And a new unbelievable form factor.


If you thought the first Pearl was small, then know that the Pearl 2 will be even smaller, shaving nearly 8mm in depth and 30% of its weight to be competing with RAZRs. Still, the Pearl 2 manages to squeeze in a 2MP camera (upgraded from 1.3) and a MicroSD card.

The Pearl 2 is coming in Q4 of 2007—and it's looking to be a worthy successor to its little brother. (That picture is not the unit, as talked about in our rumor post.)

The trackball may see some adjustments, though we have no word on specifics at this time. Overall, we're extremely excited if the leak pans out to be true...and we're fairly certain that it will. For now, to be safe, chalk it up as a rumor, but we've seen some very convicing docs that tell us it's real. – Mark Wilson
