Talking First Post, First Blackberry...

Evening All (I say evening, as I'm based in Leeds, UK)

Well, I've finally made the switch. I've used various phones, some PDA's and the Nokia 9200/9300 and most recently, the Nokia N73.

Having found myself out and about at clients, away for the weekend, etc more often, I've finally made the jump.

I initially ordered the 8707v from Vodafone in the UK. This had 3G access which I felt was important, initially. However, I did like the idea of GPS for client visits etc. Then I read that the 8707 doesn't have any capability for putting in SDmemory. You're stuck with the nominal 64meg. so, called up Voda and changed the order and on Monday I get the new(ish) 8800.

So, my main question is, what would you advise me to look at, become familier with, etc as a newbie to BB's. I'm going to use BIS as this will work for the company (without paying licenses for BES).

I'm sure I'll post more questions and such and hope you folks are patient with me. You know what us Brits are like with Tech, little behind the times ;)

thanks
Matt

Hey Matt,

You could do yourself no greater favor than to check out stinsondog's tip sheet and manuals (sticky at the top of this discussion). And spend some time thumping about the blackberry faq. Congrats on the 8800, it's a great device.

Derek

Smile Thanks Folks :)

I've checked them out and been surfing around the threads.

I do have one question however...

Not seen any information about importing your contacts. I've tried google and little comes up. All my contacts are in Outlook (and csv file) however, I am going through BIS and not BES.

Can I import my contacts easily or is there ging to be a problem?

thanks
Matt

You can import contacts easily via the Desktop Manager software.
