Geez. Now we have to put up with everyone asking about the 9900 (and 9100), does it have WiFI and why not, does it have a camera and why not, when is it going to be released, I bet Joe's Phone Shop will get it first, etc. etc. etc.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8800: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I called T-Mobile and the rep said that the 9900 is going to be out next week. He said it will have GPS, WiFi, camera, camcorder, mp3 player, qwerty keypad that uses suretype and also told me that T-Mo will be the only carrier to offer it in the US..

He also said if I ordered within the next 10 minutes that I would receive not one 9900 but 2..

Can anyone confirm this info? I hope it is true!

Will it be a 10mp camera? Will the wifi work everywhere in the US or just when I am in a T-Mo coverage area?

How will I be able to transfer songs to it so I can use the mp3 feature and will I need a data plan for the camcorder to stream live video via upload?

Thanks

I did not want to let this out of the bag cuz the rep asked me to keep it on the low down and had me swear to a KQA (like an NDA)(but is a Keep Quiet Agreement) BUT he said the lanyard will only be offered on the 9100 and that the 9100 will be sold at Walmart stores only... He was said the 9100 is going to be a flip phone device with a qwerty fold out on you lap keyboard..

How can a T-Mobile rep offer to sell you a RIM device which isn't even available for sale? Sounds really fishy like he's scamming you or doesn't know what he's talking about. A warning for you is that a lot of wireless carriers use third party groups for call support and telesales. They're also the ones most known for screwing up customer accounts by making sales claims for price plans and hardware/features that don't exist just to try and get a commission on the sale.

Regarding the WIFI access. If RIM provides a device with WIFI access then the only thing stopping you is if the carrier cripples the WIFI feature. Rogers Wireless doesn't do this so I can't see T-Mobile upsetting their customer base by crippling this feature if made available.

I've heard 9100 will have "site to site transport" capability. Might just be a rumour, but we can always hope..........

You're all barking up the wrong tree.

I think LunkHead is wrong on this...

I took a ride to Walmart last night and looked, apparently they don't have the 9100 yet and according to the sales tech, Walmart isn't getting a blackberry 9100 anytime soon, with or without a lanyard loop. He couldn't confirm if they would ever get one, but he did make the point that Walmart has never gotten a BlackBerry release in the past.

I was a little skeptical talking with him, so I had him call a manager. The manager seemed to be less knowledgeable that the sales tech, which is no surprise, but he too didn't know anything about it.

I asked if they could just check their inventory and see if maybe it had come in on a truck or something and just not put out on the shelf yet. They assured me that would not be the case.

Still not believing them completely, I was able to sneak into the backroom and have a look around at their inventory, and dawggonnit, there was NOTHING but racks of underwear and salad fixin's back there!!

You need to go back and peak between the Newman's Own Low-Fat Organic Italian Extra-Balsamic dressing and the Fruit-of-the-Looms tighty whities 3-pak. I bet the 9900's are hiding in there...
