Default Direct Push question

Please Login to Remove!

I was wondering if someone can help me with something, and maybe it will make my decision easier. I work at a local college where we have to check corporate mail. The problem, is that corporate mail comes by way of OWA only. We do have a local exchange server, but that is only for Email specific to our school. So, knowing I can only use OWA (Outlook Web Access), will a Microsoft Windows Mobile device have direct push capability? Will I be able to access my OWA account with the WM device WITHOUT the need to install extra software on an exchange server?

I currently use a BlackBerry, which works PERFECTLY to check my OWA through BIS (Corporate does not have or will even listen if I suggest push email support). I was wanting to buy another device, but it is between an AT&T Tilt, or a BlackBerry 8310 through AT&T. Will I be able to check my OWA with the Tilt? Or should I just stick with BlackBerry and call it good?

The Blackberry Tilt will work as a wireless push device ONLY if your IT Department has Active synch enabled on your account.

I work at a University, I am the Exchange admin there, and I can tell you, although the default setting for Active Synch on the Exchange server is ENABLED, it can easily be disabled (It can also be re-enabled on a per user basis). I know, because we made a point to disable this feature to "encourage" users to go with BlackBerry.

Without active synch, you would need to find alternative means. Since the Tilt has BlackBerry Connect on it, you can connect it to BIS to download your corporate mail, especially if you are doing that now with your BlackBerry.

You could also forward mail to an account which your Tilt can access if you don't want to pay for BIS data, or even do wired synchs. No matter, the tilt will likely work one way or another.

I have a Tilt, and I am enjoying it, however, the BlackBerry is still a superior Email device.
