Received emails on the 9700 disappear when I open up Outlook on the PC. Can I change a setting to prevent this please?

Assuming you are on BIS... Check your Outlook setup and make sure you have it configured to leave messages on the server.

If BES, I don't know.

also can be fixed by turning off wireless reconciliation
to do this open your messages folder from your Black berry --> click blackberry key --> Go you options --> email reconciliation --> either turn it off or set it to handheld wins.

Turning it off would be the assured way of doing it handheld wins , may still conflict as I have seen in the past

also as aiharkness has mentioned make sure make sure that leave a copy of the message on the server is selected as well.

I fixed this by unchecking "deleted items" in synchronization options under the email account management tab. I found that leaving messages on the server left me with duplicate copies of every email.

Of course Outlook still has to be closed so that emails get pushed to the BB.
