I just read this article.

If the 9780 has the same keypad as the 9700, then the 9700 shares the prize. Is this the case? Also, my opinion of the best keypad is the 8900-style or the wider 9000. For ultimate comfort, go back to the 7290.

I didn't read the article, but this is such an individual thing. I thought nothing would ever improve on the 8700 keypad, and I had my doubts about the 9700. But the 9700 is now my personal all time favorite. A lot of people will disagree.

If it weren't for the higher performance of the Bold, I would have stayed with the Curve's keyboard. It could just be a physical size issue though, the original Bold's keyboard was sweet.

Yah, Definitely keyboard on 97xx is really nice. except my keyboard just started over-typing so people started asking me why i am sending messages like "Hellloo, hhow is liiffee ?, See yyou nextt weeeek" Heading to store tomorrow to get exchange.

First - the two units are identical in terms of keyboard. 2nd, @ joginder - you can avoid that problem by turning on the predictive text option and the built-in spellchecker.

Yah, Steve, I tried all possible settings and I never been fan of predictive thing - I took it to TMO store and let couple of people try it and they agreed that its a keyb problem and should be replaced. Yes I do have the spell check enabled and that is driving me nutts when every other letter has a typo. I knew from the day one that there was something wrong with this device because its BB-key. Escape/Back key were making noise and even after I pressed and released them but I had to give myself a chance to believe it.
