Exclamation Several Blackberry Pearl 8130 Questions (verizon)

Please Login to Remove!

Alrighty now that I have had the blackberry pearl for 1 day ive seemed to run into some things that have stumped me below is the list.

1) I tried to send a picture from my BB to someone with just a regular cellphone they never got it... why is that? Is BB not capable of sending a picture to a cell phone like 2 regular camera phones can do?

2) There has to be an easier way to organize messeges email/text/notifications missed calls ect?!?!?!?!?!?!?

3) Earlier today I noticed on my BB there was a message that said something about low memory? whats the deal with that ive only had it to day and I have under 100 contacts thats it.. and ive only installed 2 applications one being Opera Mini and the other was VZ Navagator. what gives? I have music/pictures and one video on there but they are all saved on my 1GB micro...

4) Noticed to that i had about 10 text messages under the message folder i receive a few emails today get em and go to look back at previous text messages, they are nowere to be found? I only delete Emails i dont ever delete text messages i just let them delete thereselves. But they disappeared.

5) Also when I send an email weather it be replying back to one or just composing a new one if I go home and look in my email inbox online there are the same messages i sent for somereason duplicates....and there is an anoyying siganture that follows them "Sent from my Verizon Blackberry Pearl" anyway of gettin that off and what is going on with it sending it to me? Also if I open to read it online it will say user has requested a notification be sent to him/her when received.

Anyone have any answers for me? I'd really appreaciate it! Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place as well! I'm sure I may have more questions once I can think of them will post when they come back to me!

1) It all depends on the phone and the carrier. Sometimes it can take up to an hour to receive the picture message.

2) Go to the messages folder, press menu, options, general options, and set "SMS and Email messages" to separate. This will create a stand alone icon for sms and mms.

3) Check to make sure you're not running any programs in the background. Try pulling the battery out and in to reset it.

4) When the phone gets low on memory it will automatically delete messages to free some up.

5 ) Not sure about the duplicate messages. But, you can change your signature by going to 'Setup Internet Email' and editing the settings for that email account.

1. Call Vzn and make sure your service allows pix messages.
2. ??
3. You can check available memory with Options/status (the wrench icon in menu). I have an original 8100. I deleted (options/advanced options/applications, or you can use Desktop Manager) most of the foreign languages and the sample video. Pull the battery. I have about 28mb of free memory, but it goes down gradually over time. There's 64mb total on mine.
4. If it's low on memory it will autoerase stuff, maybe your txts.
5. Open messeges go to options/email settings. Say NO to confirm delivery/read/send read receipts. As for the annoying signiture I had to go to My Tmobile to alter that, you probably have to go to My Verizon. Can't do that from the phone.
Hope that helps some.
PS Make sure your camera is storing on the card. Open camera/options, do it with video too.

7) Is there anyway to get the blackberry pearl 8130 to ring/vibrate at the same time instead of vibrating twice and then ringing?

8) Does the Blackberry Pearl 8130 support options to view vidoes like on YouTube.com?

9) Also was wondering if there was a way to stop double missed calls from showing up, they will show up in like the call log and they will also show up in the Messages folder, why is that?

10) Also does anyone know the actual number for how big I need to make a picture so that it fits on the home screen as a background image? I uploaded an image to my micro sd card and set it is my homescreen background but there are 2 white bars left on the side. Then I set one of the pre-loaded blackberry backgrounds on there and it fits perfect anyone know the actualy L x W I would need to make a picture to make it fit perfect?

See if you can get IMAP access. There are some issues using POP3 where certain ISPs and Gmail will resend you your sent message under POP3 protocal. If you cannot get IMAP you can easly set a filter up from verizon's BIS website to not deliver email from your own email address to your device.

As for setting a homescreen image use the internal zoom option on a pic. However you have it possitioned it should apply as the wallpaper works great if you only want a portion of an image or if you need to fill white space. This always has worked for me on a 8700, 8100 and a 8320.

Although #4 could be right, there is also a setting on the BIS where if it is checked off, it will erase emails every day or so. It took a long time for me to find a answer to my erasing emails, but finally someone on here answered it for me. If your emails are erasing, check on the BIS settings.

Has anyone with an 8130 successfully edited their signature? I'm not having any luck thus far. I can see the sig when I go into my email options but I cannot figure out how to edit it.

How do you see what programs are running in the background and how do you turn them off?

Nevermind, I thought that the vzw online account was the online management people had referred to in previous posts. I did not realize there was a blackberry.net/go/vzw account to manage email.

Hold the shift (lower left) key and push Back button (you have to keep holding the shift key down). Some programs always run, like messages, phone,BB messenger, homescreen, Myfaves, Colortrackball. The others you just open, and close them out.
