Unable to reply to some external email thru BB in BES

We rolled out BES v4.1.4.15 /w Exchange 2003 SP2 back in October/07. Nothing was changed (I was told from the exchange administrator) in the Exchange side (I checked the cdo.dll. They are the same version in BES)
Recently, some user reported when replying some external emails, it failed to sent (with a red 'X'). However, it's working fine in all internal email.
If the user go back to his desk and use Outlook 2003 to reply the email, it's fine.
This only happen to some BB users and only to some external email address.
All users are domain user (none of them are special group like domain admin).
The battery status were at least 80% full, signals are excellent, mobile services were enable. Devices are 8830 World Edition. Devices already at the latest OS patch (check from the service provider website)
Any advice on how to solve this strange behaviour?

I had a very similar problem once. The individual was sending an email to an external address and it so happened that the external address existed in her address book. The solution was to remove the contact from the outlook address book. Later, we were able to re-add the contact without any problems and still were able to send the message.
I never was able to find a good explanation for this...
