Hi there,

I'm sure this has been asked before and explained even more times but I'm having trouble understanding some of the answers. I currently have an iPhone 3G which I am really not enamored with, but I LOVE the fact my e-mail is perfectly synced with my computer and the web mail.

Although when I owned a Blackberry I did set up IMAP, it never worked in the way Mobile Me does with iPhone.

I am, however, looking into purchasing the Blackberry Bold and was wondering if there was any way to make Mobile Me function the same way on the Bold as it does on the iPhone. If so, how?

Explain this as simply as possible! I get lost with all the BIS and BES talk ;)

Simple, MobileMe is not available on the BlackBerry.

IF you have a personal BIS account, your mail and messages will not sync (other than some deleted messages reconciliation).

For a corporate or hosted BES account, you will have wireless message reconcile.

Would you say Blackberry Unite! is at least somewhat comparable to what MobileMe offers?

I would say look at the link I provided and look into it. I know nothing of MobileMe.

Unite is more sharing of stuff, it does not give you BES functionality. Mobileme is like a hosted BES.

BIS is BIS regardless of what model of BB you're using. The Bold will behave the same as the other model you're familiar with.

I've been using MobileMe with my BB Curve now for two full weeks. Emails come in on the BB just as quickly as they do on my 3G iPhone with push enabled. The only thing that won't happen is emails read on the phone, won't be marked as read on the Mac as they do when being read on an iPhone.

Email deleted on the BB will also be deleted on the MobileMe server.

I should have been a little more specific, MobileMe works like a BES if your using an iPhone. Otherwise it works like any other email service

Do you also happen to use a program like Mac Mail? If so, does deleted mail leave your computer's inbox as well when you delete it off your BB?

This is basically what I wanted to know. Whether it's marked read or unread isn't that big of a deal...but having a synced mail between the phone, computer, and MobileMe is something I'd have trouble letting go of.

Perhaps someone could explain what a BIS and BES is? The differences?

Specifically, to address your question, I've copied/pasted from the FAQ;

BIS stands for Blackberry Internet Service. Basically, this is a service from your provider that lets you receive email and access the internet on personal Blackberries. BIS differs from BES, or Blackberry Enterprise Server, in that BIS retrieves personal email whereas BES retrieves corporate email. Normally, BIS provides push email for up to 10 non-corporate email accounts and some form of internet data service, whether that be a set MB limit, or unlimited.
