Thumbs down Lost sync option from address book

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I was trying to fix a problem with a users BB where he couldn't get new contacts in his Outlook synced (in fact I don't think anyone can).

Anyway, I thought I would run some tests on myself 1st because there is nothing worse than listening to people moan about losing things.

I went into desktop manager, into back up and restore then hit clear on the address book. This removed all the entries from my address book..... fair enough. I then went into my address book on my BB and the wireless sync option isn't even there now.

I have read through forums and web pages and they all say that I have to goto PIM sync on the BES server, which I have done, and check that the address book sync is on and bidirectional.

I also deleted the desktop [sync] book and resent it, deleted it again, restarted my BB by removing the battery, went back to advanced options and 'undeleted' the book and none of this is working.

I have also tried resending the IT policies from the BES box.

Can anyone please tell me how to get the sync option back on my BB for address book?

If you are in fact using a BES, you may need to wipe the device, and reissue an enterprise activation. if Desktop Manager is being used, you msy be defeating your your wireless sync. since your deleted the Desktop[sync] option and restarted, you cannot undelete it, it should be undeleted after it is deleted, with no restart of the device. This will prompt a mini activation of the device and sync service books with the Blackberry again. Assuming the users account PIM Sync info is their correctly. no restart should be done ontil this mini activation completes.

I have had to do this exact same thing on a few users devices. Resending an enterprise activation always takes care of this issue

Send a "erase data and lock handheld" or go to the security options, doesnt matter how you delete it.
But concerning your problem:
I had this too with some users. Doing a new activation helps, thats correct.
The official solution deleting (deleting desktop sync) didnt help me.
What helped was typing SYNC and doing a slowsync. After this the wireless option was avaible again for all users i tested this solution.
