Default BIS Exchange Server Email Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Whenever the ES is down (loss of internet connectivity, power outage, server reboot), we have to go to the online BIS account site, log on for each user, edit email account, advanced, and resave settings to get it going again. The 120 sec. timeout is not a variable. I talked to Alltel tech support yesterday and they were at a loss for a remedy. Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
Cathy

Tell Alltell escalate to RIM.

Your true remedy is to get BES. Yes, you are saving on running just BIS with your exchange server, but this is what you get for what you save.

Thanks Berry One. Alltel did indeed give me RIM's # to call. BES is a pretty steep price for just three users. Can't justify the cost, but can see where it would be nice.

You will have to provide RIM support with exact time frame when your server was down, to assist them with troubleshooting. Don't forget to specify time zone.

RIM servers should tolerate more downtime than 120 seconds. Forcing users to reinitialize their email addresses after 2 minutes of their mail server downtime is not correct.
Having ISPs shutting down their mail servers for more than that is not unusual.
