What is the easiest way to back up or create an "image" of your existing configuration/OS version before trying a beta upgrade?

Using the DM to do a backup. Unfortunately this does not backup your apps (just their configurations), and in the event you have to wipe and reload your OS you will have to re-download those apps.

On a side note, if you're planning on trying out .103, I don't think you'll be going back to any prior OS's. 103 is *****in!

Do the apps need to be reinstalled after an update? If I want to roll back the OS version for warranty or other reasons is it the same process as installing a new version?

PHLAK, what is version .103 like? I would have to re-install 21 applications so is it worth it or wait till official new version. Now on 4.7.0.90
Thanks

Does anyone have any information about the new VZW update that I heard was supposed to come out this month?

Thanks!

Smurfberry, those are rumors. Only rumors.

Read this thread on the same subject.
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...os-update.html

Bottom line: no one knows if, when, what version or what month.

So far I would wait on going to .103. I went from .99 to .103 and could no longer send MMS messages. Not good.

OK, I may have fixed this. It required me to scour the internet but it might have solved the problem. This is for those of you who encountered the same issue. If this fix is the cure all then I am once again a useful servant of the BB forum... ;)

What I needed to do was to restore the "service book" for th MMS configuration. Apparently the OS upgrade process caused a disconnection.

I believe I corrected the situation via:

Options > advanced options > host routing table

Once there select any entry, press BB menu key, and then "register now"

This will allow a Storm owner to resend his/her own service books, and you should also getting a registration email from Blackberry as well.

Another thing I am noting since uploading .103. There is a small letter "D" above the delivery check mark next to my SMS/MMS messages. Additionally, I only get the "D" next to messages sent to addressees with Verizon service. Anyone else notice this?

Forgive this noobie question from a not-so-noobie BB user. If I load another vendor's OS (Bell, for example) will VZ Navigator work or does it require VZW's version of the OS?

.75 is still the highest available OTA for Verizon devices.

Some people only feel comfortable installing officially released OS software.

I'm a little confused... I uploaded the version listed on this thread (Package Version: 4.7.0.109), but my phone says that I have (4.7.0.76). I previously had .75.

why .76 and not .109?

Thx in Advance and sry for the ignorance!

Package version and OS version are two different things. The Package has more in it than just the OS. You have OS version .76. There is up to OS version .109 in beta floating around the Internet.

XhellaBB - The little "D" next to the check mark wasn't added with .103. I just got my phone a couple of weeks ago, still running .75 (not confident enough yet to risk screwing up my phone) and I get the little "D" when I send a message to a Verizon customer.

* Software Platform: 4.0.0.96
* File name: 9530AMEA_PBr4.7.0_rel109_PL4.0.0.96_A4.7.0.76_Bell _Mobility.exe
* File size: 102.85MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the software from Bell BlackBerry
Download the software from Telus https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E607FE7CC0E1A0

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find info on previous versions of the OS: Verizon OS
Can i upgrade with a unlocked 9530?i search but i could not find a reference.
