i am using BB since last couple of days so yet know hell lot of things about it.

noticed in the morning that text/bbm alerts are not coming thru wired headset. this is a BB characteristics or phone issue, even ringtone plays when i am listening to something in media.

checked everything .. changed multiple time .. but still same, alerts using handset speaker rather than coming to wired headset

My BB does alert via the speaker so it may be a safety issue to prevent a loud ring or an alert from causing ear problems even though the media can be just as loud.

I found one note in the RIM documentation that indicates the alerts wont work on a wired headset that cannot answer a call. If your using a headset designed for media only and cannot talk that may be the issue. Apparently there is no restriction on alerts via the normal headset.

What are you using and have you added any Apps that may interfere? Also try a battery pull while powered. It will reload the OS clean.

tsac, actually problem is alerts are not playing thru headset, playing normally thru speaker. when you connect a wired hands-free, alerts should play in hands-free. somewhere i found that this is a bb issue, it will play in hands-free if you are listening to media. again, as per the link, map should be in home screen, but i am unable to find map. i am using OS 6 and its very annoying.
