Sorry - just a rumor. That is my birthday so I thought it would make a nice release date. I know, rumors are probably against all the forum rules and all. But, sadly, I think we are probably looking at next year from all reports.

I noticed that this Javelin forum is not getting the attention it once did. When I peeked in, it showed only 2 visitors versus 235 in the Curve area. I'm just trying to drum up some support for more discussion on it since I think it is still the best device on the horizon. With the current financial melt down, one would think all the companies involved would be rushing current gear to market before people run out of cash.

If there are any RIM or T-Mobile managers out there looking for volunteer BETA testers for the 8900 - PIM me.

I think Verizon, Telus and Vodafone are getting a new BlackBerry, I think its called Storm. I am not sure.

The latest information comes from the leaked RIM internal product positioning and marketing materials.

Javelin
The next generation EDGE product launching in the fall of 2008 will be focused on providing a higher tier narrow QWERTY solution around the globe. There is expected to be minimal overlap between Thunder and Javelin products.

Nothing definate, but it does give me some hope that we will see it this year.

UPDATE: My birthday is Oct. 16th, that's the NEW day for release on the Javelin for Tmobile. Sorry to the OP...

On another note -- with all this love for the Bold and Storm lately, how come we haven't heard word of anything new that's going on with the Javelin?

Well, my birthday was July 13th! No nice, shiny new Bold with 3G was available on my b-day, and I'm PISSED!!!

Im hoping for a release before the end of feb. 09 - my contracts up then and I really like my BB8100 but Im pushing its limits on memory and processing power (yes i know its a phone and not a computer but that doesnt stop me from using it as such).
