I just recently moved from Europe to the US and after getting a new number, I naturally had to validate my email addresses on my device again (it's the same device I used in Europe, it wasn't locked, I could just use the American sim, the Torch 9800).
For some reason I am getting each email to my gmail address 4 times, this does not occur with emails sent to my other addresses. Any idea what is causing that and how I can stop that?
Also, an email account from my former university is still showing up on my device, although I thought I deleted it. However, if I go to Setup>Email Accounts it is not listed there so I can't delete it over the Setup. I am not receiving any emails to it (except the message from BlackBerry telling me to validate it again), since it should have been deactivated upon my graduation from that university anyhow, but any help as to how I can truly delete it?
I know I can hide it from the main screen, but I would really just have it completely removed.
Re: Receiving email 4 times / Can't delete an account
Thank you for #2. Removed it.
I do have another problem:
My main messages list seems to be faulty too. When I go to 'Inbox Management' and uncheck certain email accounts, so they won't be included in the main message list, they still are. I am still receiving those mails in the main message list.
Any suggestions?
Re: Receiving email 4 times / Can't delete an account
I was a bit afraid of that.
I also just realized something:
When doing the hard reset last night I didn't get an error message, but when I was just upgrading one of the apps and after rebooting my device, it said
'The back-up file might be corrupt.'
However, the BB is still working smoothly and I can't detect any problems (aside of the ones mentioned in this thread, of course.)
So two questions:
1) Is it possible for me to pin-point what exactly is corrupt? Because
2) If I back-up now wouldn't it be backing up a possibly corrupt file? So if I wipe it and reload the back-up, I might get that error again, right?
Re: Receiving email 4 times / Can't delete an account
To me, it sounds like your Messages database is currupt. I would delete the Messages and Messages List database.
To do so, connect your device to your PC and start Desktop Manager, Click Device and select Delete Data
Select Selective Data, then put a check next to Messages and Messages Lists. Make sure you have the option to create a backup before deleting selected and then click Delete.
You will lose all of your mail on your BlackBerry, but it should correct your issue and you won't have to do a complete wipe of the device.
