Default SIM Card Rejected

Please Login to Remove!

Ever now and then when I loose my signal for a great amount of time and gain it back at the top it says "SIM Card Rejected" Why does it do this, and what exactly is the SIM card for? I know on like AT&T It is used to store contacts and stuff, but what is the advantage of having it on the storm??

Did a search of "SIM Card Rejected", and found the following topics. It's how I discovered and fixed the issue on my phone.

the simcard identifies your phone to a GSM network... the Storm has it b/c it's a "world phone" and verizon's CDMA network doesn't really exist outside of the US... you need GSM to use it in europe, asia, etc.

and i fixed the "Sim card rejected" error by.... removing the sim card :D... i'll never use the supplied Vodaphone one anyway... if i travel to europe i'll get a cheapie prepaid one there, not roam on Verizon/Voda

my phone does this also...if i am not going to Europe then (I live in US) do i need the SIM card? or can i take it out and still have phone work exactly the same way? I get irritated by this error sometimes and a simple, easy fix would be nice.

I think I figured this one out yesterday while in a store where, apparently, I lost connectivity to the Verizon network but could connect to AT&T's network. My phone was in SOS mode, with the "SIM Card Rejected" notice at the top. When I opened up connections status, it said I was on AT&T. Of course AT&T would not recognize my SIM, thus causing the "Rejected" message.

A simple power cycle (not a battery pull, though that works too) solved the message (as would, I imagine, the SIM being recognized by a GSM network provider).

This happened to me today, and after I did a battery pull, it was fine.

I think the Storm has the US GSM frequencies built in and can be used in the US on ATT and TMO, but only on EDGE, not 3G. Has to be unlocked first and has to have the proper service books.

Right you are... i was assuming he was on Verizon, not using it as an unlocked phone on a different network, which i guess could've been the case.

This question has been answered before I believe. But this was happening to me everyday after losing signal (I ride the subway underground) and when I got signal back, it would display at the top the the "SIM Card Rejected." I searched around and found that you can go into manage connections, then mobile network options, and turn the phone on 1XEV. After I did that, I havent seen that message since. The reason, is you dont really need GSM on or the sim card for that matter unless you go outside of the US. So it pointless in the states. Hope that clears everything up!!
