Um, has anyone else noticed (experienced?) that with this release Documents To Go no longer contains "Sheets to Go"? I saw during the upgrade process that the installer claimed that the Sheets to Go modules were "unrecognized" and were to be removed (always a bad sign). I uninstalled Documents to Go and re-installed to no-avail. Any thoughts?

Yes, you need to delete the DocumentsToGo.alx file before doing an upgrade.

I've had some problems with this one and Youtube videos. I get an error, especially when using UMA. It still runs better than 4.222.180, so I'll stick with it. Documents to go runs smooth, and PDF reading is good. I also enjoy the video recording.

Still seeing the "Callers can't hear me" (sometimes) when I answer via UMA. Even odder: If I then disable UMA, and they call back immediately after it's disabled, I get repeated ringing that I can't answer. I answer, get nothing, and the ringtone keeps repeating (about 4 times). Ultimately, it goes to voicemail. I think I'll just stick to using EDGE/GPRS at home. I don't need UMA for signal at home, but it was nice to get what seemed to be better battery life, and WiFi for browser connections. :(

I installed it over .69 and it works flawlessly. Even YouTube works now. If you do NOT have 4.5.x.x installed you MUST wipe the BB using JL_CMDER. Follow the detailed instructions. Its not that difficult as long as attention to detail is exercised.

I did not wipe prior to installing this release to see what happens. It worked just fine.

Default worried newbie

Dear John

I have a 8320 blackberry locked to Bharti Airtel, India. My queries are

1. Can I update with the OS in this locked situation. I have purchased this just last week. Hence no 3rd pty applications etc. Its completely new and mint fresh. The model has been manufactured in Hungary and I had purchased this in New Delhi, but I am presently in Mumbai, so would that make any difference while updating the OS ? .

Note the model was manufactured in July 2008. The OS version I have now is v4.2.2.175 (platform 2.5.0.33).

2. Can I do the update directly from the blackberry website using the Application Loader directly downloaded from the bby website ?

3. Is this online utility better or should I use ur utility. I have no 3rd pty applications and the phone is completely clean and fresh ?

4. Any precautions I need to take before doing this update ?

Your replies will be appreciated

Thanking you

I have seen this problem too. All of the similar issues have been related to Comcast and very poor QOS.

No Comcast here. I've got FIOS, but am using a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT firmware. Have QOS set, xmit power tweaked, as well as all of the other recommended tweaks.

A friend in Phila area was having trouble yesterday & today as well. She spoke with tmo and they confirmed there is currently a network problem. Could this be your problem rather than the OS?

Fixed my phantom voicemail and message indicator issues.

Rebooting would cause VM indicator to be on even though I didn't have a VM. And also sometimes after reading an SMS the message LED keeps flashing even though there aren't any new messages.

One huge issue- in my browser, "select mode" doesn't work. It goes to select mode, but moving the trackball does nothing. I cannot select anything.

Other than that this seems a bit better but basically the same as whatever I was running prior.

As to my faves, they have always given me a hassle on ugrades, MrKyoo gave me the fix- go to mytmobile and rearrange them there, hit save changes, and it resends them and fixes all the bugs. Worked this time as well.

No problems in Philly for me today (aside from the murder rate going up ).

The other day there was a known outage but everything has been fine for the past few days.

It'll make your receding hairline grow back, the stock market go back up, the murder rate in Philly go down ("I'm not angry! I'm from Philly") and in general chicks will dig you now. It won't make you a cool kid though, that comes with OS 4.6.

Thanks for the info. Yes, it sure could be, although I have had it happen intermittently over the past few weeks. If it's a network issue (and I hope it is), they really need to address it, because it makes for a bad perception of both the device and the service. And, that comes on the heels of a network/data outage (EDGE/GPRS) that affected much of the east coast over the past weekend. I've been with T-Mo for a long time, and understand that things do go wrong from time to time, but it's especially bad timing with people considering the G1.
