Default OS: 8330 4.5.0.188/4.5.0.131 (Multilanguage) (ESN Devices)

Please Login to Remove!

From Sprint; This is for the 8330 model, and will load on any carrier's 8330.

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8330 smartphone BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.188 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.188
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.131
  • Software Platform: 3.4.0.25
  • File name: 8330uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel188_PL3.4.0.25_A4.5.0.131_Sp rint.exe
  • File size: 82.03MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the software here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 8330:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous version of this model OS:

I already have this beta. It did not fix it for me. It's minimal but still there.

Would someone please confirm that this update removes the "force roam" option? Thanks.

MMS is showing up but I cannot get it to send, I resent service books and trying again.

Sent service books and tried again, not working for me, I just get a red X and it won't send.

Seems most users had been reporting the same in the beta thread.

I just installed the same version, but for the Pearl on Sprint and it worked great. I installed it and then sent the service books right after it was done and then tried sending an MMS and it was smoooooth sailing.

Unfortunately I am running into some "1335 Error" when attempting to install the software. I don't think the installer package is corrupt since there have been quite a few successful installation attempts by others.

MMS doesn't seem to be such a big deal. What does it matter?

Absolutely not, which is why the original post states very clearly "This is for the 8330 model".

You want this one:

What exactly does this mean?

You have trouble following the instructions?

You get an error somewhere?

Can you elaborate?

That would be referred to as 4.5.0.124, (the apps version number, yes it is confusing). So you have the latest official OS for your device.

is there any other reason for this upgrades existence? i'm all for updating my OS, however if it still doesn't solidly solve the speakerphone problem that some are saying still occurs and just MMS being available now which some have been anxiously waiting for, just wanted to know if there was anything else that this upgrade adds/fixes. Inquiring minds wanna know
