OT, I know, but why is this device still referred to as Gemini? The carriers call it a Curve 2.

Its not.
The Gemini is the 8520.
The 8530 is the Aries.
However, carriers usually refer to them by easy names. Its like a Curve, therefore its the Curve 2. Despite the 8900 being called a Curve most carriers call it a Javelin.

after the upgrade, the preloaded ringtones no longer worked. Also, the LED light would stay solid red... those are what I've noticed, in proccess of downgrading back to .395.

interesting...I got a notice on my BB for an upgrade to 5.1 about 2 days ago, I wasn't sure if I could download the upgrade just yet til I know more...

where do I find the OS in my Blackberry Curve 8530?
Under options? aha... it's v5.0.0.395
