Default 8830 Memory leak

Please Login to Remove!

Well, I am an ex-GSM man and I cannot beleive how bad the memory leak is on the 8830....I hav enot had it so bad since the early pearl software...WTF...cant even add 3rd party apps. I went from a curve, with heavy use , pilling the battery once a week to an 8830 and I hmust pull the battery once a day if not more...you would think RIM would have fixed or improved the issues for CDMA users....

Why would they improve it only for CDMA users?

What do you have running on your device, my 8820 leaks no memory. After a month of not pulling the battery I have 34.4, pull the battery and have the same.

Be patient as the 9000 is on the way and rumored to be released next 2nd quarter with 1 gb of memory, over a 3 mp camera, WiFi and 3G. BlackBerry 9000

No time to give up on RIM!

The 83xx series can leak bad. Much depends, I guess, on what you are running and what is running in the background. It is very important not to leave things running in the background that you are not using. Surfing on some websites can be memory intensive.

Viigo used to make me batt pull at least once a day. But viigo > batt pulls. Some 3rd party apps were bad. Others I ran for weeks and no mem leaks depends on what 3rd part app is running imho

I do not notice any memory problems on my 8830 ... I also make sure I close out any applications that I am not using. With the latest firmware update I have not had to do a battery pull at all.

I don't see any memory leaks on my 8830. I never seem to have more than 17mb available, but at the end of the day, I still have over 16mb. It takes a ton of emails and activity for me to get anywhere close to 13-14mb remaining free.

Viigo is also the one for me that doesn't free up it's allocated memory when I close it. I have the option to save on exit set to "no". Always takes a battery pull to get that 2 mb back. I rarely run it in the background. Just once or twice a day I load it up and take a look-see at the articles. An apple a day... and a battery pull = happy bb for me.

I am using memory up and i dont really notice any difference. i still have to pull my battery a few times a week usually b/c of certain websites.

OT: Another issue I seem to have is where the phone will lock and I will put my password to unlock and it will freeze on the "please wait" screen causing me to do a battery pull (great way to start my morning)

I've never had a memory problem on my 8320. Never. Has to be applications related.

I don't have any memory issues on my 8830. I usually have jivetalk constantly running and there are times where i leave opera mini running in the background. It really doesn't use too much memory, mainly the battery takes the hit. I haven't pulled the battery in about 2 weeks and I currently have 18.3 Mb available.

Have you used John Clark's optimizing your blackberry tips? I have and I seen a drastic improvement in my memory. Before I followed his steps, I was getting down to about 12 Mb, now it never drops under 18.
