Default Help Unlocking Vendor Themes

Please Login to Remove!

So I'm trying to unlock the vendor themes on my 8310 and I am not having any luck. I am following this guide: How to Add Vendor Locked Themes - BlackBerryFAQ

I edited all the text and when i open desktop manager I am not prompted to update my OS. This is probably because I have 4.2.2.194 and I am trying to install 4.2.2.194. But when I click next it still doesn't prompt to update core applications like the guide says. What am I doing wrong, or what should I do? Any ideas?

Are the OS applications listed?
Does it say any packages will be update?

You need to uninstall the original OS from your computer. Reinstall the OS then do your edits. If you do not uninstall first it will not work and you will not be prompted to upgrade when you plug your BB back in and launch desktop manager.
That has been my experience.

noob here..

so what if i don't have this path? C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files

i show C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\ following dirs
apploader, modem drivers, usb drivers, bbbi drivers and rimdevicemanager.

i've only loaded the desktop manager that came with bb 8320 curve. the os v4.2.2.180 was already loaded on phone..

Southern Digger... you must install your current handheld OS to the PC.

Read and follow the instructions in the link posted above.

Very good, glad it worked. The OS install is not required, for some it is needed if they have deleted vendor theme cod files in the past.

I'm having trouble with this too - just downloaded the latest TIM (4.2.2.194) and can't get it to recognize any changes. I did a Switch Device Wizard from my Pearl to my new 8310. I'm trying the uninstall/reinstall, but to no avail. I currently have 4.2.2.170 on the device and it is labeled as an 8310. Am I missing something? Maybe the platform is different??

Have you deleted the vendor.xml file from located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader?

Did you follow the instruction in the link above?

Details, details...

I did follow the instructions, it was the vendor file that did it.

Good deal.

The FAQ How to Add Vendor Locked Themes - BlackBerryFAQ

does state "Matching your carrier and the version" so it assumes you are NOT upgrading your OS at the same time. If, as you were, you must delete the vendor.xml file.
