Default Converting Blackberry contacts into a CSV file?

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know how to convert Blackberry contacts into a CSV file? I have most of my contacts in my Blackberry, but I need to sync them with a couple online e-mail accounts and online networking tools, and the web sites will let me import a CSV file. I don't have Outlook, so I can't do it automatically, but I really need you guys' help.

Not sure I would want to export stuff into CSV.

If you have the unit synced with Outlook you can export those contacts into a CSV. THAT would be the best manner to do it.

If you have a CSV file that you want to import into the BB :shudders: its best to put it in Outlook first and let that ram what will be a list of mangled entries into the device

Again, I cannot fathom why you would want to do it, but it can be done only through outlook.....from the BB

There are a couple online networks I'm in - LinkedIn.com, Plaxo, etc. - that I'm trying to network with people on, and I needed peoples' e-mail addresses to connect to them on there

Those synch with Outlook. Can we assume you do not use/have Outlook?

Correct, I don't have Outlook....so I either need a way to sync them otherwise, or a way to get Outlook (lol)

Considering, he said it in his first post, I'd say your assumption is correct.

Part of the security of the BB is that you can't get the data off it unless you sync. You are going to have to sync it.

Like RLLD, I don't know of a way other than to import into Outlook, then export from outlook to a CSV file so that you can import elsewhere.

What you are looking for is called (I think) the ABC blackberry converter. It is on snapfiles. Works well to get data off the unit.

If i you only want to export your bb contacts to a CSV file and you have desktop manager try the following (open desktop manager and plug your bb to your pc)
1- Click intellisync.
2- Click Configure PIM.
3- Select Address book.
4- Click Choose.
5- From the available applications select: ASCII Importer / Exporter
6- In Operation: select export
7- in file name: create a destination fiename with a CSV extention.
8- Click Ok.(2)
9- on the intellisync window click synchronize now.

hope this will help

Yeah, the last topic worked for the most part. But it also didn't really work for my Plaxo, the commas didn't seperate everything the right way. Oh well though - the ASCII worked for LinkedIn, and that's what matters the most for me

Not understanding why someone wants to do something doesn't make their need invalid... Anyway, this definitely is possible without Outlook as ||||||| & tekly pointed out.
