Thank you sooooooo much! I will try these tips and, hopefully, have some success. Do you think this will help with appointments being deleted as well?

Hey Pink... not great news, eh?

Emails can be erased also, it seems they are sometimes third in line after Call Logs and SMS messages. Do you have a backup of the device?

nope not great news at all. and i can't complain to my boyfriend about it b'cuz he hates my phone..lol so i was left to figure things out on my own. as far as backup goes...im still learning. not sure if i do or not. my emails are okay b'cuz they are still in my regular email in box. but as far as text msgs and recent calls...they left without saying goodbye!

It happens. But if you follow the info in the first post here you shouldn't have it happen again.

I have the 8130. Any idea how much memory I would free up if I could somehow delete the BrickBreaker program? What about the Voice Dialing?

The Voice Activated Dialing would free up a great deal of memory, Brickbreaker some, just not a great deal. I've removed both from mine.

when you do that any settings or any thing in general you have done are applied to the phone kinda. like when you update your desktop computer and you have to restart your computer. the settings are applied to the phone if you want the code i will have it tom. and another you might want to change the erase time on messages i recieved a email at work about this problemn if to many mesages are saved it will start erasing important messages and numbers out of your phonebook.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about, nor what it has to do with this thread.

Default calender question

In the tips to maximize memory, it advises to set the calender to only keep appoints 60 days. I like to keep things on the calender much longer, just in case I need to reference when I did something. My question is this: If I set my BB calender to delete something after 60 days, will it also be deleted from my outlook calender when I sync? Or will the outlook calender add it back to my BB cal?

Outlook should not delete those items, only on the BB.

Just upgraded from a 72XX series BB to an 8830. Other than the keyboard being a little tougher to type on, I was quite happy with the new device. Key word is "was". Since receiving the unit on Tuesday, the 8830 has had two major lock-ups and purged all my email and call logs.

My memory is almost always less than 10MB, and even after a reboot removing the battery for 30 seconds, the max memory I can obtain is 11MB.

It seems strange that my old ghettoberry never had this issue, and the newer model tanks on me. I am running a few 3rd party apps (google suite, beyond411, gmail, etc), but nothing more than I used to run on the old device. ANyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Um....you posted in the thread with all the answers. You should be able to have 20-25MB free memory. Follow the instructions in the first post.

Welcome to BBF.

Sorry - I should have specified that I tried all the "short term" suggestions to no avail - the max memory I can obtain after all of that is about 11 to 12 MB. If I use the device in a typical manner (send/receive email, make some calls, look a few things up on the net, etc, I am down below 9MB by the end of the day.

I looked at the link to the "long term" suggestion and I am a little daunted. Don't get me wrong - I am no technophobe - I can probably tackle all the steps in that thread, but I am a little miffed that I would need to do all that work just to keep my new BB from dumping its mail and phone logs on a daily basis. As I mentioned in my post, I ran lots of apps on my old 72XX model and I never lost an email in over a year...

remove any media card you have present and go to your media application. make sure there are NO media files on the device other than the preloaded ones. If there are, you have to move them to your media card.
