Default Changing carrier

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

One of our users have deceided to look into changing carrier from Vodaphone to O2. Can anyone tell me what is involved from an IT point of view. ie BEs reconfiguration, re configuring blackberrys?

Our current version of BES is 4.1.5.

Thanks

Is there a new BB involved or are you unlocking the BB and switching it to the other carrier? If it's a new BB then just go through Enterprise Activation with the new BB. If you're unlocking, unlock the BB and swap SIM's.

Existing new blackberrys. Roughly about 50 of them. I am trying to find out how much downtime i may have for the users if i change carrier. Several users are remote users accross Europe.

As a user, when I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T, the only problem I recall having was with BIS. I needed to call T-Mobile to release my user name. I don't recall having any issues with BES.

No as has been said before, if the handsets are staying the same and just the SIMs getting swapped, if you are on a BES there's no need to do anything. Be aware that you may not have much control over when the port process goes through though so you will need to make sure that all your users have BOTH SIM cards with them on the port day, so that when the existing one dies, they can put the new one in straight away and hopefully it will keep them going with a minimum of downtime.
