1st shot here too.... I lost my phone so insurance gives you 30 days to process claim...

Guy @ CS wouldn't approve sending the phone or the 4 pmt plan so asked for retention...

Retention said... 4 pmt plan only eligible in like 6 states (dont remember which 6 but FL is 1 of them).... but only at store level and only on/after the release date of Feb 11th...

Options were:

1. Feb 11th - Store: 2 yr contract $499.99 - instant rebate of $200.00 - MIR $100 divided into 4 payments.

2. Feb 11th - Retention: 2 yr contract $499.99 - instant rebate of $200.00 - MIR $100 - another discount to be decided on 2/11 based on tenor of my account.

3. Today - Retention: 2 yr contract $499.99 - instant rebate of $200.00 - MIR $100. They will bill account for phone and it will not be due until end of March (payment time for next cycle). The MIR will be with package and I was encouraged to process it in time to be applied to bill. Guy added then credited the expedited shipping so I'll get it on Thursday....

First impressions, love it. MUCH faster then the 8320 in pretty much every operation and as everyone else has pointed out, the screen is amazing.

Lots of applications seem to take advantage of the increase in resolution, even Opera mini is a lot more viable as a browser because of this.

So yeah, I'm off to go finish getting it setup and try some other things, I've noticed RIM changed the manner in which themes are loaded... (Can't just remove the vendorID from the ALX anymore) But this is more to do with the software then the device.
There is one important thing.. memory optimization for the Curve 8900.. although it has lots of memory but still if we could utilize that memory for something more interesting it will be helpful. John Clark's memory optimization for 8900 is required here... there are some files which are applicable for 8900 as well but there are other files which may not be useful and we just do not know about it.

+1

I decided to go with a 1yr contract (haven't had a contract since 2003) and free shipping... had to save somewhere.

Just ordered mine this morning, all went well with the first person I spoke to (2yr extension, $199 after mail-in rebate, 4 separate payments no charge)! Now I just have to wait for UPS!!!

Ordered mine on Sunday. It's in the UPS tracking system this morning. Origin Scan at 3:56 pm and departure scan at Louisville, KY at 10:21 pm last night with scheduled delivery in San Anotnio on 1/29 (Thursday). Glad I didn't pay the extra $19.99 for 3-day delivery....I'm thinking it still would have shipped on Monday and delivered on Thursday.

Call and check your orders. I ordered Friday and was told that it would be here Wednesday. I called yesterday and was told it was just a preorder but it might ship. I called today and now there's no record of the order in their system.

T-Mobile really needs to get their act together. I called back, different CSR, different story. Got my tracking number right away and it's out for delivery via UPS right now! Woohoo!

How are you guys getting your UPS tracking numbers? I ordered on Friday, and have been calling 611
Saying English
Then "Order Status"
It mentions my order number, but then when I ask for "details" it says that my "order has been received, and is still being processed. That it will ship the next business day"
It's said that since Friday. Shouldn't I have a tracking number by now? I paid for the express shipping.

They told me to use my mobile number which never worked. When I called back this last time, I got the real UPS tracking number. I would keep calling them until you get that number so you know it's actually shipped. If you read above, it's difficult to figure out whether your phone has shipped unless you get lucky with a CSR.

Crackberryadmin,

I think someone here mentioned it before but if you go to UPS and Track By Reference, the reference number should be your 10 digit US number including the dashes. XXX-XXX-XXXX

In fact, that's how my story went up until midnight tonight. I logged onto the UPS website and tracked by reference and it showed as shipping from KY and now it's on it's way to my doorstep.

Hope that helps!

If you go to the UPS site and click track at the top, then on the left "Track by reference" then you'll be able to track your phone. You'll end up here:
UPS: Tracking Information

Under shipment reference I put my phone number as "XXX-XXX-XXXX" and entered my country and zip code in the destination section and it brought my shipment right up!

T-Mo sent me two text messages that my order had been processed and to watch for the phone, too bad they sent them after I had already gotten the device and had it up and alive.
